“Do not allow the opinions of people to become the standard by which you measure yourself or your calling.”
Beloved, I come this evening with just one question:
Do people’s opinions count for you?
When people gossip about you, slander you, criticize you or speak against you, how much does that affect you? Do you spend your time worrying about what people are saying about you?
There will always be people who have something to say. But you have to learn to look to God and trust Him. You have to know what God has called you to do and seek to be fully pleasing to Him.
Remember: God loves you. Do not allow the opinions of people to become the standard by which you measure yourself or your calling.
Look to God. Put your hope in Him. Refuse to allow the fear of people’s opinions to control your life.
Prayer
Lord, help me not to fear the opinions of people. Help me to look to You alone. Teach me to find my identity, confidence and hope in You. Give me courage to follow what You have called me to do without being controlled by what others may think or say about me.
