Examine Your Motives

In today’s devotion, I want us to examine our motives.

Scripture shows moments when resources moved into the hands of God’s people for His purposes. But whenever we talk about increase, provision or wealth, we must also talk about the heart.

God gives dreams and visions. Like Joseph, we must hold on to what God has placed in us even through adversity and persecution. But we must also check our priorities and keep our focus on the Kingdom of God.

God gives power to get wealth

Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us to remember the Lord our God, because He gives us the power to get wealth in order to establish His covenant.

This is not about God simply dropping a bag of money into your lap. God can release ideas, creativity, opportunities and resources. He can train and position people for stewardship.

What are your motives?

Some people may not yet be ready for greater financial resources because money could become the object of their trust. So ask yourself: If I had greater resources, what would I do with them? Do I genuinely desire to see the Word of God preached and lives changed? What is my motive for financial gain?

God is preparing people not merely to receive resources, but to steward resources. Rekindle the dreams and visions you have lost. Concentrate on the Kingdom of God. Allow Him to develop integrity in you.

Like Joseph, Moses and Solomon, become secure in what God has called you to do. Pursue the goals He has placed before you with integrity and Kingdom priorities.
